This is a day-late and a dollar short. But yesterday was just about a
lost cause for oh-so-many-reasons (9 different languages open on my
desktop, plus picking the perfect snowy-rush hour to drive out 66 to
watch a lame football game with friends).
This weekend I : Rode my bike (outside, with great company). Ran (longer and faster). Ate (everything). Shopped (online). Watched (football, on the couch).
I have a feeling this recap will cover most weekends through August (replace biking outside with trainer if less than 45, replace football with college basketball, replace shopping with....well, more shopping). So I will just link to this post every Monday.
This weekend I also learned a very important lesson. Driving with a helmet and bike shoes is not only acceptable, but highly encouraged. As is a mid-ride Jettie's refuel.
Yesterday also marked the official start to my Ironman training (ironically, with a rest day). We will see what lands in my inbox come this weekend, but I am lucky to have a coach who understands that my training will take place on 3 continents, over 5 wedding weekends in 5 different cities, and will work with me to figure it out (first suggestion was a bike block in Australia...DEAL!). All I have asked for is to cross the finish line in August healthy with a smile on my face. Everything else will just be cake.

SAFETY FIRST. rude. also I like that you can ALMOST out-chatter me. I said almost.
ReplyDeleteI am still jelous that you are going to Austraila.
ReplyDeleteOh and I need to join you guys on these rides :)
The Jettie's stop almost made up for the donuts we would have gotten post-Skyline.
ReplyDeleteYou'll be unique b/c you can say that you trained for Ironman ALL OVER THE WORLD.
All training plans should begin with a rest day. Gotta ease into these things :)
