Random Tuesday Musings.

In picture and bullet form.
  • Ironman training officially started this weekend. The first long swim Tuesday came today, in the form of 3x1000 strength. Some notes: I love paddles. I love paddles and a buoy. Give me a buoy alone? Better wait a few more minutes for the 1000. Seriously, over 1 minute slower with only a buoy. Guess that's why I'm working on strength now?
  • I think the weekly reward on the long swim-lunch run Tuesdays double will likely be the following:
Brown rice make it totally healthy, right??
  • Speaking of long swims. I have had this reoccurring problem with nausea/dizziness in the pool on and off for awhile. Before, I would just get out when it happened (read: Friday morning), but now that isn't really an option. I have been trying to keep track of the circumstances, and I think the most obvious is being under-fueled. This morning, I thought I ate a pretty hearty amount before the swim, so the next step is to bring electrolytes to the pool. We will see. I had to cut my swim about 300 short this morning in fear of losing my breakfast in the pool. Don't think the lifeguard and other swimmers would be too happy with that.
  • After losing my temper on Friday, FedEx pulled through today and these beauties will officially be broken in ASAP (not together, obviously).
  •  As the boy and I decide when/if/where our next move will take us, we have decided to go on night-walks to explore new-to-us areas. We ended up in our current neighborhood out of sheer chance and love it, so we are trying to explore beyond the obvious, huge, well known complexes and options. Last night, less than 2 miles from our current neighborhood, we stumbled upon a brand new park and may have found a top contender for a possible move. Arlington County approving the planned 50 meter indoor pool/rec center at the end of this path wouldn't hurt its' chances.
I love Washington at night.

  1. Note: Arlington has been "building" that pool since 1995. I'm not optimistic.

  2. I'm significantly slower with just a buoy. Which is interesting because I get lapped when we do kick sets. And I'm so weak with paddles...after 200 I get so slow...
