Top 5 least favorite.

I HATE the process of joining a gym. Why can't I just come in, sign up, pay you my money and then LEAVE ME ALONE. Don't tell me the deal will be 'gone tomorrow,' because we all know that's not true, and really, it's not a deal at all - it's what you normally charge.

No, I don't need a fitness assessment, thanks.
No I don't want personal training - no not even if the 1st session is free!
No tour for me, I can figure it out.

What I want is to just be left alone!

Today, I joined the gym across the street at work (Gold's - yes, I will wear muscle tee's and carry a liter of water when I work out). Lunch time classes + shower for lunch runs = win. This ad really won me over...

...really??

The week after Thanksgiving, I will join ANOTHER gym near home basically just to swim masters with some kick ass friends who are also Ironman training. When it comes down to it, it's just cheaper to join than pay-per-swim. So yes, I have to go through the stupid process twice.

The only good news is that BOTH gyms plus the extra $25 per month to swim masters are STILL $50 cheaper than my gym in NYC.

  1. I hate the whole tour thing too, it's not like it's hard to figure out where things are.

I was thinking about joining the G-Town Law gym right by my work, just to swim there. Even though I have two places to swim for free.
