Golden Hour

Lesson of the day:
There is nothing a little sunset, furniture shopping, and good beer can't fix....

Running has been up and down to say the least. I have slowly and smartly been building my mileage, my heel is feeling generally better, my Achilles agrees with me when I treat it right (ie ice, stretch, stretch some more).  Last Friday, a planned easy 5 turned into an awesome progressive tempo run, with a last mile at a pace I haven't seen since early this year.

Sunday long run? AWFUL. As in, didn't know if I would be able to make it home and a planned 10 turned into 7.8 walk/run. There are a few things I'm planning to change up in the coming weeks. I want to get to a comfortable 25-30 miles per week before I add in tempo and speed, and I'm *this close* and as motivated as ever.

1. Continue to pool run, but stop counting it towards weekly miles. Nothing replaces "time on feet".
2. Long runs Saturday, out the door by 9am. I have been lazy when it comes to getting out the door, for reasons a bit beyond my control, but I know myself, and know I need to get up and out the door.
3. Join a gym. Last winter, I did much of my hills and tempo/speed work on the treadmill and it worked for me. Also, I love spinning and I miss it.
4. HILLS. hills=strength=happy sarah=fast running.

  1. Oh no about your long run! That is the worst when that happens.
