A Pass

It's 10am.  I still have 90 minutes to get up to the Bronx for the NYRR Cross Country Race in the Bronx.  I loved this race last year.  It's also rainy and cold- perfect conditions for fun cross country running (although not so perfect when you have to take the subway an hour home...)

But I am staying in bed.  With my Starbucks and Sunday Times to keep me company.

I took the pressure off this week.  I only ran once, for 30 minutes, when I was home.  It was a holiday, it was my birthday.  I wanted to sleep in.  And cook.  - My legs feel better than they have since weeks before the marathon.  And I only gained about a pound since Tuesday :)

Hope everyone had a great long weekend- my time at home was saddened by what happened in India, and only got worse after finding out that two of the Americans that were tragically lost in the attacks were the family of a good friend from high school- I am happy he and his brother were with his poor mother who lost a husband and child in the blink of an eye and now has to read about the horrid details in the news and see it on CNN.  I am glad I was home to share the grief with friends and family, and was able to hug my family and be thankful for our time together.

  2. Sounds like a good morning. I've blown off so many races this fall and I always feel better after going back to bed.
