A new Kind of Brick

Last night's Brick workout*:

4.5 mile run

A Shake Shack Dinner
(my fave burger in the city)

0.7 mile run.

*highly recommended for removing all guilt from one of my favorite meals in the city.

Fate?

Wow! So VERY glad I didn't shell out the $125 to register for Annapolis Triathlon on Monday like I had planned!

If you click the link you can see the full story, but short story is the organizer's bike permit for the race was DENIED. They are trying to figure out a new route, but are also considering an Aquathon (and sounds from the letter that the Aquathon is the route they are going to go). At least they are offering a full refund.

Had a great workout this morning, 20 miles on the bike then 2.5 mile run. Ran the first 2 miles in a negative split 15.44, without feeling like I was pushing the pace too much (ironically close to my 'tempo pace' I was running Tuesday night). Feeling great and really happy with where my running is right now. I also left my bike computer at home by accident, but it was really nice to ride without it for a change- May do it more often on the shorter rides in the park where I roughly know the distance anyway.

Graston Therapy

Holy Shit.

Graston Therapy.

Not so much fun. At the time, or after.

These are the Graston tools. My doc used the one second from the top.
Sort of looks like medivel torture devices, no? Well, that is also how it felt...

My entire inner shin/calf is a redish-purple bruise, getting worse by the hour (and yes, it has been 12 hours), and it HURTS.

Didn't make for such a pretty first real brick this morning. 16 mile ride, 1.5 mile run. I forgot how much I hate bricks. But at least it's not like last year, when my first brick ever was also my first triathlon ever. THAT was almost as much fun as this Graston crap.
