I function based on my to-do list. If someone was to take away my list, oh the horror I would not know how to function. It organizes my day, my week, and sometimes, reminds me to shower and eat.
Over the past three days, my To-Do List has transformed from this
To this.
The visual nature of my progress allows me to pat myself on the back, which sometimes, is all I need to keep pushing forward.
Despite the current crazy-hectic pace of life, I continue to PLAN PLAN PLAN. Much of my time over the next two months has been planned by OTHERS:
1. Work trip
2. Moving
3. Work trip
4. Wedding x3
Following the weekend of May 12, I will be FREE of other people's plans. Which has left me to do what, else...plan up my time!! I am giddy with excitement as things have been falling into place. Despite my best efforts not to over-plan and fill up my weekends, the summer is looking quite full already, but I am SO excited because everything has been planned on my terms and will lead to the ultimate goal in August of a happy, healthy and FUN Ironman race day.
May will include an OLY tri and a kick ass long weekend of training including a 5k open water swim followed by lots of miles and hills on the bike.
June will bring training, training and more training. The ONLY 'official' thing on the schedule in June (and I'm trying to keep it this way) will be a day long adventure in Garrett Country, Maryland that will (if all goes according to plan) bring 125 miles, 16k feet of climbing, and two tired but happy and STRONG girls on bikes.
July will start off with a bang with a week-long family trip to Bethany. This is a tradition that extends years before I joined this world. I have missed the past 8+ years due to not living locally and I cannot contain my excitement to join my extended family for a week of relaxation, drinks, board games, sand, surf, fireworks and SUN! This week will only be made better by the fact that my cousin is diving head-first into triathlon and will be joining me for some crazy hours on the bike in exchange for some open-water swim instruction. July will also bring another OLY race to gauge the fitness progress.
I am also proud and excited to have a major work event at the end of July happening in DC, AIDS 2012. Recent policy changes have allowed this huge, international and inspirational conference to be hosted in the US for the first time in recent memory, and I'm excited for a week of networking, learning and usually lots of fun side-events.
August will bring a final OLY tune up, the ultimate goal, and, finally, the summer will be book-ended by another work trip to a new-to-me African country.
Ready, set GO!
