Looking ahead to 2011, I am not sure what the first half of the year will hold work travel-wise, other than: A LOT. I need to do research on getting myself a bike and a group to train with in Johannesburg. In the absence of all that being finalized, one think I know I can do in South Africa is run (on a treadmill).
So today, I entered the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile lottery. If I get in the lottery, and I am in town on April 3rd, I am super excited to make this an 'A' race for the spring, working on my fitness and my speed.

Then on Easter is a race that is on my bucket-list.
I was signed up for the half-marathon option when I hurt my hip in 2007/2008, and had to sit on the sidelines and cheer (which was an amazing experience). But is a good chance I will need to be in South Africa the week before/after this race this year. The decision becomes, do I make the half-marathon an 'A' race for the spring (it's a super crowded course), or do I dream bigger and work on developing a real (injury free) base and run the course that this race is known (and named) for, all 56k of it. I would 100% run the ultra for experience, as I would not have a 'qualifying' time from a marathon in the past year and would thus, be seeded in the back of the crowd.
