American Idiot

Last night I saw 'American Idiot' on Broadway (if you haven't heard of it, read the jump - it's ALL Green Day music!), it is in previews and will officially open at the end of April. I jumped on seeing this when tickets were still available, as there have been other shows with similar 'buzz' prior to opening that I was lazy about seeing and once they opened, were sold out for months.

I have to say, the first 20 minutes left me scratching my head a bit. I loved the Green Day music, the stage and set design, but I just wasn't sure where it was going. Once the story line developed a bit more, I LOVED every bit of the show. I also felt it lost a bit of steam at the end, but overall, I would highly recommend it. I do think it will appeal to a niche audience, and I'm afraid some of the graphic scenes and language may turn off a whole set of people, I found it refreshing and though-provoking.

In my very non-expert Broadway opinion, there are still a few kinks to work out before officially opening, but I really hope this show is a success.
