After 18+ hours in the air, I landed without incident yesterday morning at JFK. After a shower and some much needed espresso, I headed straight to the NYC Tri Expo to check in.
I am ready to race. No excuses. I was able to run much more than I expected while away and got on the indoor bike a few times, too. I didn't swim. But, hey, I didn't really swim before Philly either.
Although I may not have the best opinion of this race in general (cost, size, I could go on...), I am really excited to race. The swim start is about 400meters from my front door, and there are probably 30+ people racing my from team. It's a really fun day, and am looking forward to it much more than I expected.
My main goal is to smash my time from NYC 2007 (my first OLY tri): 2:43:16
(17:19/1:25:54/53:24) I was never happy with this time, and think I am capable of much better, all around. I won't define 'smash', but I am hoping to improve by at least a few minutes in both the bike and run. With the swim current, a rumored 'long' bike and a much hillier run course, it is impossible to judge where my time may be based on my results in Philly a month ago.
After a quick run today, 3 load of laundry and two cups of coffee, I am wondering if it is time for a nap yet??
Gotta love having a race start being that close to home. Saweet. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGood luck. Even though I swore I'd never do that race again...because of the hudson swim...I might next year. It was fun
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! I love that you're going straight from the plane to the race. Have a great time out there, looking forward to following along and reading about it after. For a few hours tomorrow morning, I will be very nostalgic for NYC!
